How every roll is made

The server locks in a secret. Before each game it picks a random server seed and shows you only its SHA-256 fingerprint. It can't change the seed later without the fingerprint changing.
Every player adds a seed. Each player's seed is joined into the client seed, so no one, the club included, controls the outcome alone.
Each roll is a formula. Roll number n comes from the formula below. Bytes 252–255 are skipped so each face stays exactly 1 in 6.
The secret is revealed after the game. Press Verify, or recompute every roll yourself with any SHA-256 tool.

die = (byte mod 6) + 1, for bytes < 252 of
HMAC-SHA256(key = server seed, message = "client seed:n")
If 32 bytes aren't enough, message = "client seed:n:k" for k = 1, 2…

Chouette rules

Seating roll: each player rolls one die. Highest takes the box, the next is captain, and the rest form the crew in order.
Opening roll: the box plays the team, and the higher die moves first using both dice.
The captain moves the checkers. Crew members suggest moves in team chat, which the box can't see. The captain decides.
Each team member has their own cube against the box. The box may double every cube it can; each member takes or drops on their own.
Before the captain rolls, any team member holding their cube may press "Double my cube." The captain can double too. The box answers each cube separately.
If you drop, you pay the current cube value and sit out the rest of the game. If the captain drops, the next team member still in takes over.
Gammons count double and backgammons triple, on every cube. Cubes go up to 64.
Rotation: if the captain beats the box, the captain becomes the box and the old box goes to the end of the line. Otherwise the captain goes to the end of the line.

Time limits

Each roll or move decision has 60 seconds; each cube answer has 30.
If time runs out, the server rolls for you, plays the engine's move, or drops the cube, and records a timeout.
Three timeouts and you're removed from the table at the end of the game.
Leaving mid-game counts as dropping your cube. If the box leaves, every team member is paid at their cube value.

Points only

All backgammon is for points. There is no money, no stakes and no prize pot on any game, including chouettes.
Points from member-only tables feed the club ladder. Tables with practice bots don't count.
Every member can play, including free Pawn members.

Fair play and conduct

Using an engine, bot or outside help during a live game is prohibited.
Chats are monitored. Reported members are investigated, and membership is terminated for harassment, abuse or other policy violations.
Arranging money stakes on games, on or off the platform, is prohibited and ends your membership.
